Mary Yoshinari

MA, Ph.D.

Academic Profile

Mary Yoshinari is a Ph.D. student in the University of Toronto's Department of History. During the past year, she was a guest researcher at the University of Tehran and conducted research at the National Library and Archives of Iran, which was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Her primary focus is the Iranian Interwar period, including the interaction between modernity, nationalism and gender within international economic and political contexts. In July 2012, she will present a conference paper at the University of Loughborough which analyzes visual representations of these themes in Iranian print media.
